GoPro has a reputation for making the most versatile cameras found anywhere in the world. Recently, brand new additions were announced and have joined the family of these innovative cameras — the GoPro Hero 5 Black and Hero 5 Session action cameras.
Aspects that set the GoPro Hero 5 line apart from the competition are that they are both waterproof and feature voice control. The Hero 5 Session is tiny and shaped like a cube, and both are jam-packed with features that the user will enjoy.
The Hero 5 Black allows for 4K video capture at 30 frames per second, much like the Hero 4 before it, and includes a two-inch touch display that is easy to use. Users can easily capture images simply with the GoPro and don’t have to worry about it being paired with a smartphone. The Hero 5 Black can also shoot 2K video at 60 frames per second or in full high definition. Image stabilization will keep your videos steady and blur-free, which means you can mount it on a bike or helmet without worry. The device even has GPS built in, allowing for tagging your video with your location. The voice control function allows you to use the camera simply with your voice. Simply say, “GoPro, start recording,” and the device will record a video for you without you having to lift a finger. Read more →
It’s no surprise – 3D printers have continued to astonish people of all ages from all over the world. This magical printer can create little knick-knacks,figurines, and even actual food, all thanks to the art of science and engineering. What’s next for these printers? Apparently, it’s now turning its head to the fashion industry (or more so the fashion industry to 3D printers).
A company located in Boston by the name of Ministry of Supply released a bombshell on the fashion world – a completely seamless jacket that was made with a 3D printer. This dapper men’s suit jacket is still under modification, seeing that the suit jacket was made to adorn the upper half of a mannequin and not an actual male, yet that issue could easily be fixed by a little TLC from a trusted tailor.
But what does this new technology mean for the fashion industry? What does it mean for consumers?
Gihan Amarasiriwardena, co-founder and chief design officer of Ministry of Supply, goes on to explain that this could lead to an era where a consumer could just walk into a store, tell the designer what he/she would like to have done, and the designer could literally print out the piece of clothing that the consumer requested. All that would need to be done would be for the consumer to give his or her measurements to ensure that the article of clothing would fit to their unique frame.
Not only is this just extremely cool, but this new way of creating clothing also claims to be eco-friendly. The traditional cut-and-sew method of creating clothing is said to waste up to 30% of the fabric. 3D printing clothing would shrink that number to zero.
It also would cut down on time. To sketch out a drawing of an article of clothing, and then cut the fabric and sew it strategically back together again could take days, weeks, sometimes even months. This jacket that Ministry of Supply creates is made in less than 2 hours, while providing added thickness in places where it’s needed and a little less fabric in areas where sweat might tend to accumulate.
The entire idea behind making clothing via 3D printing is so that clothing can be tailored for the buyer’s frame, and let’s be honest, that is the dream. Human beings want to look good, and the one of the first things that catches a stranger’s eye is the clothing you decide to decorate your body with. Why not make it a perfect fit?
Many enjoy applying color or distortion filters to photographs in order to create unique images. Now, there is a website that takes photo alteration one step further. DeepArt enables art fans to convert any photograph into an image that might have been hand-painted by a famous artist. Users need merely upload a photo to the website, choose an artist style and the program software does the rest. Site visitors also have the option of uploading an example of an artistic style that is not currently offered.
Turn a favorite landscape into a painting that might have been created by Vincent Van Gogh. Turn a selfie into a Rembrandt or an abstract Picasso. The site is free and easy to use. However, due to the popularity of the program, a no-cost rendering may take almost two full days before completion. A minimal fee of 1.99 Euros or $2.24 reduces the time frame to around 15 minutes. Free versions are also only available in resolutions of up to 500 x 500 pixels. Upon image completion, the site sends the client an email notification. Read more →
