Routing

Smedia offers multiple peering points with providers such as Time Warner, Level 3, and BellSouth with plans to soon expand into even more networks. We have multiple OC-48 fiber-optic rings delivering OC-3 pipes, T-3's, and T-1's. We are one of Time Warner’s top 10 network providers. Our routers run HSRP (Hot Swappable Routing Protocol) to make sure that data can be routed in the unlikely event of a router failure.

Security
Smedia dedicates a significant amount of time and resources to data center security. Our systems are subject to rigorous and continuous security checks. Our Network Operation Center (NOC) is locked and alarmed 24 hours a day. All personnel must produce valid pass cards to gain access. Located in Charlotte North Carolina, the data center is very unlikely to be subject to earthquakes, rolling power outages, blizzards, tornadoes, hurricanes or acts of mass destruction, unlike many other of our competitors..

Reliability
Smedia's data center has state of the art IP architecture to guarantee that each of our web servers operates as efficiently and dependably as possible so that your web presence is delivered reliably.

Redundancy
Smedia has dual-redundant outlets to assure uninterrupted service and connectivity. In case of failure by the local utility company or other circumstances beyond our control, there is a battery backup connected to each power grid that will provide 100 minutes of clean, uninterrupted power. On-Site Generator: In the unlikely case of a complete power failure, we have dual 700hp turbocharged, diesel back-up systems on both grids that are available immediately in case of a total power failure. This system is designed to provide at least three days of backup power. Precision Environment: Our servers are kept in a secure, static electricity controlled environment kept at a strict 65 degrees. The air is constantly being filtered to capture fine particles of dust and other contaminates. A sophisticated fire-suppression system is in place, in the improbable event that a fire would start.

Bandwidth Utilization
Smedia currently has a large surplus of bandwidth capacity, even during peak hours. We have the ability to accommodate the largest bandwidth spikes associated with even the most popular web sites.

Other Facility Information:

Our hosting facility is monitored 24 hours a day by a zone based security system. Clients granted access to our facility are aware video may capture them while on premis, and their access and activities are logged. We reserve the right to limit access only to inviduals we have cleared for authorized access. We may require proof of identiy and maintain our right to refuse entry to our facility to anyone for any reason.
