DotNetNuke is an open source Web Portal Framework / Content Management System application written in ASP.NET / VS.NET-VB. It is based on the IBuySpy Portal Solution Kit with extensive modifications, including support for multiple websites from a single database/codebase installation.

The .NetNuke architecture provides an easy mechanism to add new functionality as portal 'modules'. More than 45 modules are included in the standard release.

The initial .NetNuke design, based on IBuySpy (IBS) portal kit, has been significantly enhanced and improved by a global team of volunteers. Most IBS users either quickly outgrow its simple functionality, or become frustrated finding and applying the various patches and enhancements available on the net. Migration to .NetNuke is a natural evolution.
